God is your rock and refuge

Psalm 18:2
"You are my mighty rock, my fortress, my protector, the rock where I am safe, my shield, my powerful weapon, and my place of shelter"

Even the very strong and fit need a rest from time to time, a break from the battle, a refuge in times of trouble. Sports teams welcome the blast of the half-time whistle, animals on the hunt take refuge in the shade when tired, and even the mighty King David of Israel needed a respite.

It is very likely that he penned this psalm, showing that in his time of stress he looked towards God as his rock of safety, his place of shelter. If the greatest of Israel's kings admitted weakness at times, and accepted God as his refuge, why can't we?

Why can't we kneel in the heat of our battle and ask God to give us shelter and peace? We can. And we should, because no matter what our troubles are, no matter how bad our situation is, God loves us and will care for us.

God follows your every step. He knows where you are at all times, he is ready to help. Remember what Jesus said?

"Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? And one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father's knowledge. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows."

How much more does God care for you then? And why would he refuse you comfort and shelter when He knows your troubles?

Do just as King David did. By all means look to your friends and family for guidance, love, support and strength; after all God has given those gifts to us for that purpose. But always look to find the greatest rock of them all, your God. And allow Him to be your rock of safety and shelter.

I hope and pray that God will give you comfort today.

See Ya Soon,

May God bless you today and forever!
